A modernisation of a seaside apartment overlooking the stunning Carbis Bay. We replaced the dated kitchen, doors, flooring and electrical hardware for a more stylish and cohesive scheme. We decorated throughout using a warm palette, soft lighting, natural materials and contemporary abstract artwork.

Cool, Calm and Serene – An artistic coastal apartment on the edge of St. Ives
We set out to create an artistic, warm and natural interior, incorporating elements inspired by the sea and beach in a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
By removing the Artex and replacing it with a smooth white ceiling; adding warm, natural carpets throughout with engineered oak to the kitchen area, we instantly lifted and modernised the space. New wooden doors throughout made a dramatic difference, especially where we removed the dated patio doors and created a larger reception space.
We used a soft and neutral colour palette on the walls - soothing shades of blue, green, warm whites and soft taupe were used to mimic the natural environment. We used stronger block colours on some feature walls but still soft in palette. The locally sourced kitchen has shaker style units in a light denim blue shade, with brushed brass fittings and under unit lighting. The solid worktop sits below the glossy, tiled splashback in a vertical stack pattern.
Our design included the use of natural materials like rattan and jute which added warmth and texture to the space. We added antique brass door furniture/electrical hardware which not only updated the apartment but also added a contemporary finish.
By removing the built-in furniture in the bedrooms and repositioning a door, we were able to improve the layout whilst also providing extra storage with ottoman-lift bed bases.
Noting our clients’ love for artwork, and working with some distinct pieces, we were able to create a cohesive design with a flow throughout the apartment. We used a variety of block colour and mixed patterned fabrics to add character to each room, opting for materials like linen, cotton, and sheer fabrics to allow natural light to filter through.
Carbis Bay is a textural, light and warm coastal apartment. By combining tactile elements, natural materials and gentle hues we have created a liveable, welcoming and comfortable space that is both inviting and stylish.
